What is a diagnosis?
Hair diagnosis is a process in which the health and condition of the scalp and hair is evaluated.
It is performed to identify hair problems such as hair loss, dandruff, excessive oiliness, dryness, split ends and other hair and scalp related problems.
This diagnosis is especially important to determine the underlying cause of hair problems and to find the appropriate treatment.
It is important to note that an accurate and proper hair diagnosis should be performed by a hair health professional, such as a dermatologist specializing in hair problems or a trichologist, as they can provide an expert and personalized assessment of hair health.
But how is a hair diagnosis performed?
Initial interview
In which information about medical history, family history of hair problems, hair care routine, etc., will be collected.
Visual inspection
The specialist will examine the scalp and hair for visible signs of hair problems.
Tool Use
Thanks to our trichoscope, we obtain a more detailed evaluation of the scalp and hair. This device magnifies the image and helps to identify specific hair problems.
Hair analysis
With a hair sample, we can determine the health of the hair follicle and detect underlying problems.

Anagen Phase
Growth
The first and longest phase. Intense activity in the hair bulb, results in the formation of keratin, the essential protein that makes up the hair.
85% of hair is in the anagen phase.

Catagen Phase
Transition
The hair persists and dies. The hair no longer grows and remains rooted in the follicle for some time. Hair growth slows down.
It affects 1% of the hair.

Telogen Phase
Repose
The dead hair remains anchored in the follicle for about 3 months, but slowly progresses outwards, pushed by new, young hair, until it falls out.
This phase affects 14% of the hair

Exogenous Phase
New hair
This phase is actually within the telogen phase. The new hair would later start again in the anagen phase. A new hair life cycle begins.
